Research questions and methodology

The project spans a period of three years and pursues a multifaceted methodological approach. Exploratory interviews, expert interviews, and standardized surveys are used to gain in-depth and diverse insights.

How are processes in brick-and-mortar stores changing (e.g. purchasing, sales, delivery, communication)?

 

What challenges, opportunities and dependencies arise and how do they impact spatially?

 

Which platforms are actually used by brick-and-mortar retailers and which criteria are relevant for the selection?

 

What industry-specific and macroeconomic effects result from the influence of the platform economy on brick-and-mortar retail?

 

What prospects are opening up for the future development of brick-and-mortar retail with regard to increasing "platformization"?
